THANK YOU! Two words too small to express the excitement, humility, joy and gratitude we feel for all of you here in NWA and those who live elsewhere, for your votes for Sassafras Springs in the Best of NWA 2019 Award Competition. At the gala awards ceremony held in Rogers on February 20 at the Metroplex, the winners were announced, and we were ecstatic to learn that SSW&V brought home the gold in four categories:

Best of Northwest Arkansas Award Winner

Best Winery | Best Wedding Venue | Best Romantic Getaway | Best Wine Selection

And it’s all because of you! So again, thank you for your votes and your patronage.

Let me be the first to congratulate all the NWA businesses that won awards in the bronze, silver and gold categories. I know every one of you agrees that it’s a labor of love to bring exceptional goods and services to customers in our region. Being recognized for those efforts and outcomes is the best incentive to keep striving for excellence. Gene and I are so very proud of our own hard-working SSV team, where we view customer experience—those wow moments—as the centerpiece of every event we host, like weddings, for example.

Best Wedding Venue in Northwest Arkansas

Best Wedding Venue

We won the gold again for the second straight year for Best Wedding Venue. I think the shine begins with the setting, 60 acres of rolling land nestled in a valley of exquisite natural beauty. We offer several “stages” on which a couple can exchange their vows. The Chapel Ruins, whose design was inspired by church ruins Gene and I saw while traveling in Europe, is majestic and unique. It was built with Arkansas stone by a stone mason artisan, features hand-crafted lampposts adorned with lovely grape and vine features, and can seat up to 360 guests. Besides wedding ceremonies, the Chapel Ruins is a beautiful and versatile place to hold the rehearsal dinner, wedding reception, and other events.

The Stables is a converted horse farm that was owned by former Razorback football coach Houston Nutt. With 3,500 square feet of rustic charm, newly-added windows everywhere to let in light, elegant wine chandeliers and an indoor seating capacity of 200, the Stables is a gorgeous wedding venue. Like the Chapel Ruins, it’s perfect for the reception, rehearsal dinner, bridal luncheon—and there’s no end to the personalized décor and catered food our customers can select. There are side and back decks too that can accommodate many more guests. We’re pretty proud of our new, covered Veranda, with its stunning view of the vineyards and which can seat 250 guests for a ceremony and 150 for dining.

The Peacock Room is a little gem over the winemaking building, ideal for brides and bridesmaids. Lavish, intimate and sumptuously decorated in the purple and teal hues of the peacock, this space is well-loved by the ladies as they dress for the grand event, and especially welcomed by the bride, who can watch her guests arriving in privacy.

Our wedding planner, Sarah Kilpatrick, and her team will knock themselves out to help you plan the wedding of your dreams. Choose from several options, depending on how much you want to be involved.

Best Winery in Northwest Arkansas

Best Winery

As a local winery, we’re delighted to be recognized again this year as NWA’s Gold Best Winery. Our guests love the peaceful, natural setting where they can lift a glass to celebrate life’s special occasions, from birthday parties to girls’ night out and everything in-between. We have three expansive decks behind the tasting room set among lofty trees and with a creek running below that has a sitting area and firepit. The top deck is covered, and there’s also a large enclosed space as well as the spacious center deck. In the Tasting Room you and your friends can enjoy a tasting session of our own prize-winning wines and other delicious wines. With its beautiful, natural wood décor, it retains the rustic elegance of its former life as a milk barn. We have tables and seating for 40, a cozy nook with a fireplace and splashes of color everywhere with wine art by notable Canadian artist Leanne Laine. Besides wine and craft beer, our menu includes specialty pizzas, salads and artisan fromage and charcuterie boards, and on weekends, there’s live music from some pretty awesome bands. You can book the entire room for your corporate party, engagement party or anything else worth celebrating.

Best Wine Selection in Northwest Arkansas

Best Wine Selection

We’re so honored that our wine took the gold in 2019 as it did in 2018 for Gold Best Wine Selection. We have six varietals of internationally award-winning wines, including the popular Sassy Rosé, Sassy Syrah and my namesake, Cheryl Long’s Chardonnay, as well as our West Coast wines and Reserve Collection. The new Wine Club is the ideal way to enjoy our wines year-round and mingle with other fun people, so consider joining and getting all the perks of membership.

Best Romantic Getaway in Northwest Arkansas

Best Romantic Getaway

Love is the signature of Sassafras Springs, and we’re so blessed to have been recognized as Best of NWA Gold for Romantic Getaway for the second consecutive year. We think all the special places here, whether the Chapel Ruins, the Winery, the Stables, the Tasting Room and the lovely landscape exude romantic charm. Besides weddings, many couples enjoy our mystery dinners, annual Valentine’s dance, Jazz by the Fireplace and other events. But if you’re looking to extend those blissful moments, there’s no place like the upscale Lodge at the Winery, where rustic elegance meets sleek modernity. We were thrilled to open the doors of the Lodge last July to welcome our first guests. With huge windows and decks overlooking the vineyard, four beautifully appointed suites, five bathrooms, a kitchen and large great room, the Lodge is perfect for wedding parties, catered rehearsal dinners, and couples’ retreats.

Why not schedule a tour so you can see all of these breathtaking venues for yourself? Or come by for a glass of wine and a taste of surrounding nature.

Thank you again for another great Gold year of wine, fun and the good life in Northwest Arkansas.
